Ashford Dunwoody-Dresden ATMS-COMPLETED

New Sidewalks and ADA ramps

This is one of the projects recommended in the Brookhaven Comprehensive Transportation Plan (ID 1.6.1).  The project consisted of installing fiber optic communication devices along Ashford Dunwoody Road and Dresden Drive in the City of Brookhaven to expand the current signal communications network and enhance communication between PTOP and RTOP signals. Fire station preemption, pedestrian improvements, CCTV surveillance, and intersection improvements will also be implemented to improve the entire network. The project has a total project length of 4.56 miles.

Funding Source: Preliminary engineering was authorized in 2015 using federal funding for STP -Urban (>200K) with a local match.  Construction funds are sourced and programmed from Federal Highway Administration’s 2019 Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ). Federal funding is secured up to $1,613,575 with a local match of $403,394.

Status Update (January 23, 2023): CMES is complete with the project. Inspection of the newly installed signal and communications is complete.
