Background
Several years ago, a resident's Service Request alerted the Stormwater Team of a sinkhole in the road between 1063 and 1069 Club Place. Upon inspection, the team discovered the entire pipe run from upstream headwall at 1080 Club Place to the downstream headwall required replacement. Several failure mechanisms were at work. Corrosion along the entire flow line allowed surrounding backfill materials to wash into the storm sewer causing a series of long, linear sinkholes to form. A three phased rehabilitation approach was taken. In the Spring of 2020, Phase I the culvert crossing under Club Place was replaced. Phase II replaced the system from the downstream side of the right-of-way to the headwall in the subdivision's stormwater detention pond. Phase III is the latest project to complete replacing the system from the upstream right-of-way between 1066 Club Place to 1080 Club Place addresses to the upstream headwall.
The existing CMP storm drainage system extends southeast from a roadway catch basin at 1066/1070 Club Place to a junction box at 1076/1080 Club Place. The conveyance turns north at the junction box to a headwall behind the homes at 1076/1080 Club Place
Approximately 50% of the project is in the right-or-way with the other 50% between two homes along a drainage easement.
This rehabilitation work consist will consist of replacement of the upstream portion, as follows:
- replacement of approximately 300 LF of 42” CMP with 42" ADS HP Storm polypropylene drainage pipe,
- replacement of the existing junction box at 1076/1080 Club Place
- replacement of the existing upstream headwall with new headwall.
