Routine quarterly inspections of the dam and spillway indicated the potential of some hollow spots below the concrete of the spillway.  During construction of the the Multi-Use Path over Murphey Candler Dam, lake levels were lowered.  Public Works contractors were able to use Ground Penetrating Radar to verify two to three areas where further investigation is warranted.  During the project to rehabilitate the Low Water Drain, lake levels will again be lowered, and test holes will be drilled to further assess the issues.  

Following that work, an engineered solution will be designed and submitted for approval through EPD's Safe Dams Program.
