About Brookhaven Municipal Court

Overview

The City of Brookhaven's Municipal Court operates under the laws of the State of Georgia and handles all misdemeanor traffic cases, city ordinance violations and select state misdemeanor crimes that occur within the City of Brookhaven. The Clerk's Office maintains original citations in compliance with the common record retention schedule for municipal governments.

Mission Statement: It is the Court's mission to ensure efficient, impartial, and consistent resolution of all matters coming before it and to foster the community's confidence in the judicial process through service-oriented communication, education, and innovation.

 

Court Schedule & Office Hours

All Brookhaven Municipal Court sessions are open to the public and take place at:

     1793 Briarwood Road
     Brookhaven, Georgia 30329

Arraignment sessions, pre-trial negotiations & hearings take place each Monday and Thursday at 2:00 p.m. & 3:30 p.m.

Bench trials & hearings take place on the third Wednesday of each month at 8:30 a.m.

Office hours: Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (except holidays)

 

Understanding Your Citation

  • Your citation contains important information for you to be aware of such as your initial court date & time as well as the location of the court.
  • Most citations can be paid without an appearance in court but other citations require a mandatory court appearance and cannot be paid in advance. 
  • After receiving your citation, please allow three business days for important case information to update.

 

Pay a Citation

Depending upon the violation, you may pay the fine on or before the court date in lieu of appearing for court. Citations handled in this way are treated as guilty pleas. Other violations require a mandatory appearance for court and may not be paid in advance or in lieu of appearing for court.

Brookhaven Municipal Court contracts with a private company to provide probation services.

Interpreter Services

If you require the services of an interpreter, please inform the Clerk's Office as soon as possible and prior to your scheduled court date & time. Contact the Clerk's Office by phone at (404) 637-0660 or by email to court@brookhavenga.gov 

Note: Spanish interpreters are available at all court sessions.
