Street Sign Topper Program

New Drew Valley Sign Topper and New Street Sign

Purpose: Help neighborhoods to be recognized by unique characteristics. Increase the visibility of the neighborhood to non-residents. Encourage a sense of belonging within the neighborhood. Encourage neighborhood pride. Complement other neighborhood identity efforts.

Eligibility: Only recognized neighborhoods or homeowner associations; whose names and boundaries are unlikely to change, and whose name is formally established and accepted by residents, whose boundaries do not infringe upon other recognized neighborhoods; are eligible to take part in the Sign Topper Program.

Program Guidelines: Neighborhoods or Associations that want to participate in this program must submit a Sign Topper Application to the Public Works Department at pwadmin@brookhavenga.gov.  The application must include the number of the proposed street sign toppers and a location map.  Only the Public Works Department will be responsible for manufacturing of all sign toppers.  The program is subject to annual City Council funding within the Budget and available on a first come, first serve basis.

Design / Manufacturing Guidelines: Sign Toppers must adhere to the Standard Design and Manufacturing Guidelines established by the City.  All proposals for sign topper must be submitted for review and approval by the City.  Cost for the manufacture of the sign topper shall be incurred by the City.

Installation Guidelines: Only the City’s Public Works Department is authorized to install all sign toppers.  Sign toppers shall be installed on all street signs within the limit of the neighborhood or association area based on a map of the area which is mutually agreed upon by the neighborhood and the City.

Maintenance Guidelines: Only the City’s Public Works Department is authorized to remove, repair, or replace sign toppers. The City of Brookhaven reserves the right to remove any sign topper that has become unsightly without replacing the sign.
