Popular Brookhaven intersection gets designed for improvement

Ashford Dunwoody at Peachtree Rd identified in corridor study

Brookhaven, GA, June 18, 2018 – The Brookhaven City Council approved funding for a contract to design improvements to the Ashford Dunwoody/Peachtree Road intersection.

The busy intersection was identified in the Ashford Dunwoody Corridor Study, which was previously adopted by the City Council on April 25, 2017 after extensive public input.  The Study recommendations contain ten short term, six mid-term and one long term projects.  This Ashford Dunwoody/Peachtree Road intersection is one of the mid-term projects.

“The improvements will include installing a dedicated right turn lane on southbound Peachtree Road to Ashford Dunwoody Road, and extending a right turn lane on southbound Ashford Dunwoody Road to Peachtree Road,” said Public Works Director Hari Karikaran.  “In addition, we will be adding multi-use paths and a five-foot sidewalk.”

The Brookhaven Public Works Department solicited proposals from qualified and experienced transportation engineering firms.  Of the four proposals received, the $150,000 contract was awarded to Thomas & Hutton during the June 12 City Council meeting.
