Multimodal Study public input period extended to March 2024

Silver Lake path, Warrenhall extension no longer under consideration

Brookhaven, GA, Nov. 13, 2023 – Due to a high volume of community feedback regarding Brookhaven’s Multimodal Study, the public input process has been extended through March 1, 2024.

The Multimodal Study will serve as an update to the City’s first Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Trail Plan, which was adopted in 2016. The plan examined existing conditions and identified locations where improvements for bicyclists and pedestrians were most needed with an expanded multimodal focus.

“It is wonderful to have strong participation in the public process.  It gives us the information we need to fulfill the vision of what our community wants to become,” said Mayor Pro Tempore and District 1 Councilmember Linley Jones.  “As such, I have requested an extension to the public input window so that everyone has an ample opportunity to become familiar with the issues and participate.”

Public input that has been received to date will be preserved for the final report. To ensure that the community has sufficient time to provide input, the projects shown in the draft materials will be tabled. However, the Silver Lake path and the Warrenhall extension are no longer under consideration for this study.

“The overall goal of this plan is to provide safe, connected and efficient transportation for our residents, whether they are walking, biking, or using dockless mobility devices or public transportation,” said Assistant City Manager Patrice Ruffin Dowdell. “I encourage our residents to visit the website and share their perspective on the proposed multimodal network.

The City kicked off the Multimodal Study in May with an open house, an online survey, and a pop-up event at the Brookhaven Bike Alliance Pedal the Parks event.  An open house for Brookhaven’s Multimodal Study took place on Nov. 2, at Brookhaven City Hall.

Feedback on the Multimodal Study can be submitted at multimodalstudy@brookhavenga.gov.An additional input meeting will be announced in the future.
