FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Planning work can begin for massive upgrade

Brookhaven, GA, March 23, 2018 – On Feb. 27, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) voted to award the City of Brookhaven $400,000 in federal Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) funding toward the planning work for the interchange at I-85 and North Druid Hills Road.  The Interchange Modification Report would be the first step toward determining best design to accommodate the current and future traffic volume.

In a separate matter, the ARC voted to award the City of Brookhaven $560,000 in TIP funding toward the Ashford Dunwoody/ Windsor Parkway intersection and complete street improvements to Ashford Dunwoody Road between Oglethorpe Drive and Windsor Parkway.  The ARC also approved $2.7 million toward Phase II of the Peachtree Creek Greenway.

“I want to thank the leadership and staff at the ARC for having the wisdom to rework and rebuild this intersection before the Children’s Healthcare and other significant developments planned in this area are completed.  The ARC’s commitment addresses future traffic capacity in this area, and the future is bright for other great opportunities,” said Mayor John Ernst.
