Multimodal Study

Brookhaven Multimodal Study Public Meeting Open House April 2024

Updated April 19, 2024

The City of Brookhaven is in the process of preparing a Multimodal Study.  The resulting plan will serve as an update to the City’s first Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Trail Plan, which was adopted in 2016.

The current plan examined existing conditions and identified locations where improvements for bicyclists and pedestrians were most needed. In keeping with the plan, $50,000 is provided annually in the Capital Improvement Plan for sidewalk maintenance and ADA compliance. Additionally, in 2018, the City Council adopted changes to the sidewalk policy that require any new development to install sidewalks or multiuse paths consistent with the plan. Funding has also been adopted for a multi-use path infill project on Briarwood Road from North Druid Hills Road to Buford Highway. Phase I of the Peachtree Creek Greenway is complete, with Phase II in the design and right-of-way acquisition phase.

In December, 2022 the City of Brookhaven contracted Alta Planning + Design, Inc to prepare the Multimodal Plan.  The Multimodal Plan will update the 2016 plan and build upon the existing network and work already completed to establish a thorough network of trails, lanes, and paths with an expanded multimodal focus.

Consultants for the project hosted a pop-up event on  May 7, 2023 at Skyland Park as part of the Brookhaven Bike Alliance’s Pedal the Parks.

An open house for the project took place May 18, 2023 at Brookhaven City Hall. See below for project files from the event.

A second open house for the project took place on November 2, 2023 at Brookhaven City Hall.  See below for project files from the event.  The Public Comment Period Closed on March 1, 2024.
