Ashford Dunwoody Road-Windsor Parkway Intersection (ST-08)

The City of Brookhaven, in partnership with Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT), is seeking feedback about a proposed project to convert the conventional minor stop intersection at Ashford Dunwoody Road and Windsor Parkway into a single lane roundabout with a 10-foot shared use path on the east side of Ashford Dunwoody Road. Windsor Parkway between Ashford Dunwoody Road and Lanier Drive would gain a sidewalk on the north side, a shared use path on the south side, and a curb and gutter.

This intersection Improvement Project is one of the mid-term projects recommend in the Ashford Dunwoody Road Corridor Study adopted by Council in April 2017.  In addition, this is one of the projects recommended in the Brookhaven Comprehensive Transportation Plan (Project # I-8) adopted by Council on September 9, 2014. 

Purpose of this project is to improve the left turn movement from northbound Ashford Dunwoody Road into Windsor Parkway and left turn movement from Windsor Parkway into northbound Ashford Dunwoody Road and reduce or eliminate accidents.   

Funding Source: This project is included in the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) 2018 Transportation Improvement Project (TIP) funding.   Planning and Engineering (PE) is authorized at this point and a Federal funding of $240,000 is secured with a local match of $60,000.

Public Information Open House (PIOH) Held October 19 - November 18, 2023.  PIOH interface reopened January 18 - February 5, 2024 for additional public input.

MS4 plans complete and approved.

Preliminary Plans nearing completion.

Concept Report was approved on May 5, 2023.

Public Information Open House to be scheduled for early Fall.  Actual date is yet to be established.

Current Baseline Schedule Milestones: Concept approval on or before March 22, 2023; Preliminary Field Plan Review on or before February 19, 2024; Final Field Plan Review on or before February 16, 2025; Construction Letting on or before January 23, 2026.
