Ashford Dunwoody Road/Peachtree Road Intersection Improvement-COMPLETED
ASHFORD-DUNWOODY R0AD/PEACHTREE ROAD PROJECT - COMPLETED!
This intersection Improvement Project is one of the mid-term projects (MT-01) recommend in the Ashford Dunwoody Road Corridor Study adopted by Council on April 25, 2017. In addition, this is one of the intersection improvement projects recommended in the Brookhaven Comprehensive Transportation Plan (Project # I-1) adopted by Council on September 9, 2014.
Purpose of this project is to improve the right turn movements on Ashford Dunwoody Road and Peachtree Road at this intersection.
Some of the improvements at the intersection are:
- Extended right turn lane on southbound Ashford Dunwoody Road to Oglethorpe Drive
- Dedicated right-turn lane on southbound Peachtree Road, increase the turn radius in the northeast corner of intersection, install a concrete island, and provide space for shelter/waiting area at the bus stop on Peachtree Road.
- Reduce the skew of the intersection with Peachtree Road
- Signal improvements as necessary for the new configuration.
- Install ten-foot multi-use path on the east side of ADR with five-foot planted buffer
- Install five-foot sidewalk on the west side of ADR with a two-foot wide grass strip
- Pedestrian, streetscapes and landscape improvements
- Drainage improvement
Funding Source: This project is funded by 2018/2019 SPLOST allocation, including Design, rights-of-way acquisition and Construction
