Sidewalk By Petition Program

The City has established a Sidewalk Petition Policy whereby eligible neighborhoods may petition the City for the installation of sidewalks within their neighborhood. The intent of this policy is to add another venue for property owners to petition the City to have a sidewalk and /or Multi Use Path constructed along their property in an expeditious manner outside of the budget process. A majority (fifty percent/plus one) of the affected households must sign a petition to be presented to the City of Brookhaven. A survey will be performed of the property and a cost estimate for the construction of the sidewalk will be prepared. The cost per property owner will be determined and presented to the neighborhood. A second petition will be prepared acknowledging the cost associated with the construction.
