Two Brookhaven Police lieutenants complete rigorous management program

Brookhaven, GA, July 21, 2023 Brookhaven announces the recent graduations of two Brookhaven Police lieutenants from Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff & Command (SPSC), an academically rigorous full-time, 10-week management program for public safety professionals.

Lt. Abrem Ayana and Lt. Patrick Bolls successfully completed the program as a member of SPSC Class #544, which was held in Atlanta, GA from Feb. 13 – June 16, this year.

“The quality and strength of any police department is built upon the training of its front-line officers and management team,” said Police Chief Brandon Gurley. “Participation in this program help to lay the framework to achieve a variety of leadership positions within and outside of the Brookhaven Police Department."

About the School of Police Staff & Command

The Center for Public Safety was established at Northwestern University in 1936 with the specific goal of expanding university-based education and training for the law enforcement community.  Since 1983, when its first class commenced, approximately 21,000 law enforcement leaders have graduated from the internationally recognized School of Police Staff & Command program. The School of Police Staff & Command provides college instruction to include such critical topics as: Leadership & Management; Human Resources; Employee Relations; Contemporary Policing; Organizational Behavior; Planning & Policy Development; Budgeting and Resource Allocation; and Media Relations.
