Master Patrol Officer - $95,771 (Based on Post Certification).

 


 

Now Accepting Non-Certified and Certified Officers

The Equivalency of Training (EOT) process may allow an officer who does not possess a GA POST basic law enforcement certification to be exempt from having to complete the entire basic law enforcement training course.

Types of officers who may be eligible for the EOT process:

  • Eligible Federal Peace Officers who have graduated from the FLETC Uniformed Police Training Program;
  • United States Military Police Officers (Army, Air Force, and Marines) who have graduated from their branches Basic Military Police Course and possess a general discharge under honorable conditions;
  • Out-of-State Police Officers who have graduated from their states Uniform Police Academy and their certification is valid and in good standing;
  • Pre-Service Candidates and Inactive Registered Georgia Peace Officers actively employed in law enforcement or who have graduated from a basic law enforcement training course;
  • Individuals who graduated the basic law enforcement training course, in Georgia, and did not complete the certification process.

Your certification as a police officer in another state or with the federal government must be valid and in good standing.

Upon application approval, the EOT candidate will be required to pass the following courses:

  • Georgia Criminal Law -16 Hours (provided by Ga. POST)
  • Legal Update
  • Use of Force
  • De-escalation
  • Community Oriented Policing
  • Human Trafficking (Effective 01/01/2024)
  • Gang Awareness (Effective 01/01/2024)

Minimum Qualifications

These are the minimum requirements to become a Police Officer:

  • 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • US Citizen
  • Valid State of Georgia driver’s license
  • Successful completion of the pre-employment process
  • Meet all applicable physical, vision, hearing, and psychological examination requirements
  • Successfully pass an extensive background check

Hiring Process

The hiring process is a competitive selection procedure which consists of:

  • Written Test
  • Physical Agility Test
  • Oral Operations Interview (w/LT and Major)
  • Background Investigation
  • Voice Stress and Psych Evaluation
  • Physical Exam and Drug Test
  • Chief Interview
  • Final Offer
