Cassandra Bryant receives the 2023 Trailblazer Award from Congressman Hank Johnson

Brookhaven, GA, Mar. 31, 2023 – Cassandra Bryant, a titan of Brookhaven’s Lynwood Park community, was celebrated alongside many other women by Congressman Hank Johnson for her dedication to the community.

The event, Trailblazers, was held on Sunday, March 26, where 17 pioneering women were honored. These women come from all different backgrounds, but their commonality is rooting their leadership in their respective communities, enacting change.

Congressman Johnson described Bryant as a community leader and advocate who has been on the front lines for seniors and workers since the 1970s. She was a past president of the Lynwood Community in Brookhaven and served as secretary of the United Auto Workers Union Civil Rights Committee.

“’I am so proud of ‘Sandy.’ She is a dedicated and kind spirit who continues to serve the community in her role in the Brookhaven Parks and Recreation Department, said District 1 Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tempore Linley Jones.

“I am delighted that ‘Sandy’ Bryant is duly recognized for the progressive work she has done throughout her lifetime, and I appreciate Congressman Johnson’s recognition of her accomplishments,” said Mayor John Ernst.
