March 2017

City Council voted to engage the PATH Foundation to conduct engineering for Phase I (North Druid Hills Rd to Briarwood Rd) of the Peachtree Creek Greenway at their March 14 meeting.

Since its inception, PATH has developed over 270 miles of trail throughout Georgia and has become a nationally recognized model for trail-building success. Their  linear parks and transportation systems have become part of the landscape in both urban and rural areas.  Notable trail projects include, The Silver Comet, Stone Mountain, Lionel Hampton, South Peachtree Creek, Westside, Arabia Mountain, Chastain Park, Whetstone Creek, South River Trails, Path 400, Path Parkway (Georgia Tech), and partnership with the Atlanta Beltline among others.

Phase I(North Druid Hills Rd to Briarwood Rd) engineering includes sections 3, 4 & 5 of the Plan, stretching from North Druid Hills Road to Briarwood Road. This 1.25 mile piece is the central link in Brookhaven's  2.9 miles of the Peachtree Creek Greenway Trail. The entire trail is envisioned to run from the confluence of the north and south forks of Peachtree Creek in Atlanta through Chamblee, Doraville and unincorporated DeKalb.  For more information on the entire trail, visit www.peachtreecreek.org
