Brookhaven, GA, May 3, 2023 The City of Brookhaven will celebrate its traditional annual Lynwood Park Community Day at Lynwood Park, 3360 Osborne Road, on Saturday, May 6, from noon to 6 p.m.

“Over the last four decades, the Lynwood Park Community Day celebration has become a beloved tradition, drawing hundreds of participants not only from our community but also from surrounding areas, as many people have ties to this historic neighborhood,” said Mayor Pro Tempore and District 1 Councilwoman Linley Jones.

Festivities kick off at noon at Lynwood Park with the traditional parade, food, games, and a program presentation that will include music and speeches from original residents of Lynwood Park neighborhood.

This year, the parade for the 44th Lynwood Park Community Day will feature elected officials from different Georgia cities and counties, the Cross Keys Marching Band, the Atlanta Corvette Society, the Black Cowboys, and more.

The Lynwood Park Community Day is an annual celebration of the Lynwood Park neighborhood, which was established in the early 1930s and was the first Black subdivision in DeKalb County. The celebration allows for new and former residents of the community to gather as one and reflect on the significance of Lynwood Park’s history.

In October of 2020, the Brookhaven City Council unanimously approved an official historic designation for Lynwood Park and its community. This is the first historic designation made by the city.

Admission is free.
