Brookhaven’s MLK Day program and celebration a success

Brookhaven, GA, Jan. 18, 2018 – Brookhaven’s third annual MLK Day dinner and program drew a crowd at the historic Lynwood Community Center, once the site of the segregated Lynwood schools, whose students bravely integrated the DeKalb School System in 1968.

The event featured DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond as keynote speaker, with Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst, Brookhaven District 1 Councilwoman Linley Jones, WSB’s Mark Winne as master of ceremonies, retired AJC journalist and Lynwood alumnus Peter Scott, comedian Bobby Brown and other musical performances.
