How to Apply for a Tree Removal Permit

How to Apply for a Tree Removal Permit

Any tree 4 inches or greater, regardless of condition, requires a permit for removal within the City of Brookhaven. Tree permits have no fees for owner-occupied residences. Commercial and/or investment properties do have a $25.00 fee for tree removal permits. The City does not provide arborist assessments on private property and does recommend consulting with an ISA certified Arborist when considering plans and maintenance for your landscape. Applying for a tree permit, is done via the Project Portal

To submit a Tree Removal Permit application, the following project documents must be included:

  1. A completed 2-page Tree Removal Packet (See Supporting Documents below)
  2. A photo for each tree to be removed (groupings of trees are acceptable, if clearly marked to show which are to be removed)
  3. A site plan, sketch, survey, or aerial photo of the property showing location of the tree(s) to be removed and location of tree(s) to remain. Hand-drawings will be accepted if, they include boundary lines and structure locations in the rendering.

Once your packet is complete, you will need to fill out the Project Portal application component for the permit and upload the items listed above. Additional information on how to navigate the Project Portal can be found under Supporting Documents.
