Fire Marshal
Sevices performed by the City of Brookhaven Fire Marshal include:
- Reviewing and approving plans for both new construction and renovations for existing structures.
- Reviewing and approving plans for fire sprinkler, fire alarms, commercial kitchen hoods, grease ducts, cooking suppression systems, clean agents, etc.
- Reviewing and approving LDPs and site plans.
- Performing inspections of all permitted commercial, multifamily buildings, and fire detection and fire protection systems.
- Inspecting new buildings, existing buildings, and sites for compliance with the fire code.
- Investigating all life safety complaints for commercial and multifamily buildings.
- Performing inspections for new business licenses or change of occupancies.
- Performing inspections required for setting occupancy load.
- Performing inspections and implementing permitting requirements for food trucks.
- Reviewing details on proposed events and performing life safety inspections of the events.
- Providing information to the citizens, business owners, and the public on fire safety.
- Consulting with architects, builders, contractors, owners, etc. on interpretation of the fire code and ADA compliance.
