Planning and Zoning

Ethics in Planning (AICP):

The planning and zoning team works with the community development department to review site plan submissions for compliance with all Brookhaven zoning and development requirements and the Comprehensive Plan.  Planning and zoning also provides support to the City’s Planning Commission and the Board of Appeals.  Planners in the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) are tasked with upholding the highest standards of practice, ethics, and professional conduct while navigating difficult ethical and moral dilemmas presented during project development.  The AICP Ethical Principals in Planning assists advisors, advocates, and decision makers during the planning process.

Any information the applicant or the public would like included in an agenda package (Planning Commission, Board of Appeals, and Arts and Culture Commission) must be submitted two weeks prior to a scheduled meeting. The department is required to post a week before the public hearing, and sufficient time is needed to review and compile information.
