Embarking on a vision for our community south of I-85

Brookhaven, GA, Sept. 1, 2020 – Starting this month, the Brookhaven Community Development Department is kicking off a planning process for areas south of Interstate 85. This initiative will serve as an update to the City’s Comprehensive Plan, and will be an opportunity to envision the future of LaVista Park, surrounding residential areas, and the growing medical activity center.

The community is invited to participate in the first of two series of meetings. Meeting Series #1 will consist of two virtual meetings: one at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and a second on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 11:45 a.m. At these meetings, the City will introduce the project and solicit community input on needs, challenges, and opportunities. Welcome and introductory comments by the planning team will begin at 7 p.m. and 12 p.m., respectively. Community members that are unable to participate in the live meetings will have an opportunity to provide input to initial visioning and discussion forums at the online engagement hub through Thursday, Sept. 24.

A second series of meetings will be held in October to craft a vision for the community’s future.

Additional information, opportunities for input, and access information for the meetings can be found at the project’s online engagement hub and information portal, www.brookhavengatewaysouth.com. Links to the meetings will be posted day of on the website.
