Brookhaven Police Department announces Fall 2018 Citizen’s Police Academy

Brookhaven, GA, Aug. 31, 2018 – Applications are now open for the Fall 2018 edition of the Brookhaven Citizen’s Police Academy. Free of charge, the class is open to adults age 21 and older and runs on Tuesday nights for 10 weeks, Sept. 18-Nov. 20.

“This is a great opportunity to not only enhance the relationship between our Police Department and the citizens of Brookhaven, but also to give residents insight into how a police department operates,” Chief of Police Gary Yandura said.

Brookhaven to pave Camille Drive, Sept. 4-8

Monument signs to mark City of Brookhaven entrances

Brookhaven, GA, Aug. 31, 2018 – Monument signs will soon greet those entering the City of Brookhaven on Ashford Dunwoody Road, Johnson Ferry Road, Windsor Parkway, and Peachtree Road.

Constructed with stacked stone, the signs were approved and funded by the newly-formed Brookhaven Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The gateway signs include the City of Brookhaven seal, as well as interchangeable banners that can promote special events.

Brookhaven working to secure historical marker for Lynwood Park

Brookhaven Council updates alcohol ordinance

Brookhaven, GA, Aug. 30, 2018 – The Brookhaven City Council made several alterations to the alcohol ordinance at its regular business meeting on August 28.  These changes will improve the clarity and enforceability of the ordinance and ensure all entertainment venues are treated equally under the law.

The changes include:

    ·         Removing the classifications of Dinner Venue and Entertainment Venue and adding a classification of Late-night Establishment.

City Council gives green light to "world-class" dog park

Brookhaven, GA, Aug. 14, 2018 -- A large portion of Brookhaven Park, 4158 Peachtree Road, is now officially on its way to becoming home to a “world-class” off-leash dog park, thanks to action taken last night by City Council members. The Council approved a contract not to exceed $50,000 to make the dog park a reality.

Brookhaven pooches invited to make a last splash at Doggy Dip Day

Brookhaven, GA, Aug. 8, 2018 – Brookhaven Parks & Recreation Department invites pooches to come out and enjoy one last splash of summer at Doggy Dip Day.

The event takes place at Murphey Candler pool on Sunday, Sept. 9. Small dogs up to 35 pounds will be let in the pool from 1 to 2:30 p.m., while larger dogs weighing more than 35 pounds can jump in from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per dog.

Brookhaven to enforce alcohol provisions at adult club

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brookhaven, GA, Aug. 1, 2018 – Based upon a July 26 ruling in federal court, the City of Brookhaven will be enforcing the provisions of its alcohol ordinance at the Pink Pony, 1837 Corporate Blvd NE, in Brookhaven.

The adult establishment has been operating under a settlement agreement since 2014.  Under the terms of that agreement, which expires in 2019, the Pink Pony pays the City of Brookhaven $225,000 annually, and could remain open until 4 a.m.
