Weather activity from Hurricane Michael tests Brookhaven Alert

Brookhaven, GA, Oct. 11, 2018 – Although weather-related damage in Brookhaven caused by Hurricane Michael was relatively minor, it provided an opportunity for the City to utilize its new notification service.

At 7:35 this morning, a Brookhaven Alert notification went out to 901-subscribed users advising about downed power lines blocking Skyland Road.

Mayor’s October town hall to focus on stormwater projects

“Starting this evening, Operation Clean Sweep is officially underway,” said Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst.  “For the first time in our City’s history, we are dispatching street sweepers to every City-maintained street, drive, road, lane, cul-de-sac and circle.”

NEW DATE AND TIME: Brookhaven announces groundbreaking for universally accessible playground at Murphey Candler Park

Brookhaven, GA, Oct. 12, 2018 – Thanks to an innovative partnership, construction is about to begin on a brand new, ADA-accessible playground at Brookhaven’s Murphey Candler Park.  A ceremonial groundbreaking will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. at the park on 1551 W. Nancy Creek, between the pool house and the Sea Scout Hut.

The project was made possible by the partnership of the Murphey Candler Park Conservancy (MCPC) and a $75,000 grant from Resurgens Charitable Foundation.

Brookhaven sets 2019 budget hearings

City Council wrap up: Highlights from the Sept. 26 meeting

·         The Council unanimously approved a resolution to establish the Brookhaven Arts Advisory Committee and the appointment of its membership. 

·         The Council unanimously approved to annex and rezone the 271 residences at Enclave at Briarcliff Condominiums at 1000-5308 Westchester Ridge.  The rezoning allows the existing structures to remain in place.

New Skyland Park officially set to open on September 29
