Non-Discrimination Ordinance

The Brookhaven City Council unanimously approved a non-discrimination ordinance for private businesses on January 14, 2020.  The purpose and intent of the Council is to protect and safeguard the right and opportunity of all persons to be free from all forms of discrimination, including discrimination based on actual or perceived race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, marital status, familial status, or veteran/military status. The Council's purpose in enacting the 2020-01-02 non-discrimination ordinance is to promote the public health and welfare of all persons who live and work in the City of Brookhaven. It is important for the City to ensure that all persons within the City have equal access to employment, housing and public accommodations.

Per ordinance 2020-01-02, residents who want to file a complaint of discrimination can complete and submit an Unlawful Discrimination Complaint Form to the City Manager.
