Director of Strategic Partnerships

Patty Hansen Director of Strategic Partnerships City of Brookhaven

Today’s municipal landscape calls for partnerships that will leverage common priorities to bring outside agency funding to Brookhaven. Recognizing the need for a regional problem-solving approach to some of our most critical issues, the prioritization of Strategic Partnerships has enabled important leveraging of local funds to attract outside agency investment.

As Director of Strategic Partnerships, Patty Hansen is charged with working inside and outside Brookhaven’s borders to support the City’s placement as a center of commerce, transportation, and transit, while retaining Brookhaven’s identity as a leading multi-cultural, welcoming metropolitan Atlanta community.

Transportation

Since the city was formed in 2014 Brookhaven has been awarded over $11 million in federal and state funding to support critical transportation supported by the Atlanta Regional Commission, and the Georgia Department of Transportation, while addressing the needs of Brookhaven’s citizens and businesses.

Watershed Improvement

Brookhaven’s investment in plans to improve both the Nancy Creek (2016) and North Fork Peachtree Creek (2018) Watersheds has already paid for itself. The United States Environmental Protection Agency has awarded the City $900,000 through the Georgia Environmental Protection Division, for projects currently underway.

Parks & Recreation

To date, Brookhaven has worked with partners at the Department of Natural Resources, Resurgens Charitable Foundation, and the  DeKalb County Office of Community Development to bring $280,000 to support nature trails, remove invasive species, bring restrooms to American with Disabilities Act standards, and support the buildout of the accessible playground at Murphy Candler Park.

Public Safety

Strategic Partnerships supports the Brookhaven Police Department’s critical alliances with multiple state and federal agencies.  The Brookhaven PD has brought in over $750,000 to offset the expense of initiatives including leading an interagency gang investigation unit, funding critical pedestrian safety initiatives, and protecting our officers with state-of-the-art Body Armor.

Special Projects

Strategic Partnerships will lead and or support Special Projects that are anticipated to require close partnerships with industry, neighboring municipalities or regional entities and state, federal or private funding streams.
