Brookhaven Development Authority approves $45 million agreement with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brookhaven, GA, Dec. 7, 2017 – The Brookhaven Development Authority approved a historic Community Investment Agreement (CIA) with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Children’s) totaling up to $45.1 million in proceeds.  The Brookhaven City Council will consider a reciprocal intergovernmental agreement on Dec. 12 with the Development Authority which would give effect to the CIA if approved.

“This agreement represents a significant investment by Children’s in infrastructure – roads, sidewalks and sewers – that serves as a model for future developments of this magnitude,” said Brookhaven City Manager Christian Sigman. “Children’s could have chosen to build anywhere, but they chose Brookhaven and DeKalb County, and their investment underscores their degree of commitment to our community for the long term.”

A summary of Children’s investment in the CIA is outlined below:

“The bottom line is that this investment kick-starts a lot of projects that we all want to accomplish but are not able to with current resources without a tax increase,” said Sigman.

The intergovernmental agreement will be considered by the Brookhaven City Council during its regular meeting on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. at Brookhaven City Hall, 4362 Peachtree Road.
