Mayor John Park

District 2 Councilman John Park

After winning the general runoff election on Dec. 4, 2023, Mayor John Park was sworn into office as Brookhaven’s fourth mayor on January 8, 2024, to serve a four-year term.

Mayor Park previously served as Brookhaven’s District 2 Councilman beginning in November 2014 in a special election. In 2017 and 2021, then-Councilman Park was reelected for second and third terms.

Born in South Korea, Mayor Park along with his family immigrated to the United States at the age of 6. Mayor Park grew up mostly in Decatur, Ga.  

Upon graduation, Mayor Park attended Emory University where he earned a bachelor's in business administration from the Goizueta Business School. After Emory, Mayor Park started his technology consulting career at IBM.

Soon after the Sept.11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Mayor Park left consulting to work on bioterrorism preparation at the CDC.  He married Morgan Harris in 2003.  In 2007, they moved to Brookhaven and set down roots.

Since moving to Brookhaven, Mayor Park has formed an amateur soccer club (Nuesoft FC in the ADASL), fostered dogs for animal rescue organizations, and is a technical consultant for surveillance of nationally notifiable diseases with the CDC and state departments of health.  

Mayor Park's Goals:

  • Maintain and improve the livability of our neighborhoods
  • Integrate Brookhaven into a regional network of paths and greenways
  • Acquire more parks and greenspace in Brookhaven
  • Foster more public private partnerships to achieve the goals of Brookhaven
