City Council wrap-up for the May 23 meeting

Brookhaven, GA, May 24, 2023 The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its May 23 meeting:

  • The Mayor and Council issued a proclamation recognizing Municipal Court Clerks Week in Brookhaven.
  • The Mayor and Council held a public hearing on a rezoning by Yancy McWeay at 1615 Dresden Drive & 1606 Richwood Drive from RS-75 (Single-Family Residential) to RS-50 (Single-Family Residential) with concurrent variances to allow a reconfiguration plat.  The item was subsequently denied.
     
  • The Mayor and Council held a public hearing on an ordinance to amend Chapter 27 Zoning Ordinance - Revisions to the State Zoning Procedure Law - House Bill 1405 update.  The item was subsequently deferred until June 23.
  • The Mayor and Council approved a consent agenda which included:
     
    • The minutes of the May 9, 2023, Work Session and Regular Meeting
    • Approval of a contract to GC&E Systems Group, LLC for camera & access control upgrades at the Development Services Center for $55,651.
    • Approval of a contract to NWN Carousel for information technology upgrades at the Development Services Center for $287,339.
    • Approval of a resolution of the update to the Brookhaven Grants Policy.
       
  • An ordinance to approve a Permanent Sewer Easement Agreement Between City of Brookhaven and DeKalb County Georgia for Murphey Candler Lake House Project.
  • An acquisition of right of way reimbursement contract with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for the Peachtree Creek Greenway Phase II.
