City Council wrap-up for the May 10 meeting

Brookhaven, GA, May 11, 2022 The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its May 10 meeting: 

  • The Mayor nominated and City Council subsequently approved the appointments of Aixa Pascal and Holland Muscio to the Brookhaven Convention and Visitors Bureau
     
  • The Mayor and Council unanimously approved a consent agenda which included:
    • The minutes of the April 26 Work Session and Regular Meeting.
    • Accepting an additional $50,000 from the GA Department of Natural Resources 319(h) Award (Nancy Creek I-285 to Murphey Candler Lake)
  • The City Council approved a resolution with conditions for a right-of-way abandonment at 2328 Colonial Drive in exchange for just over $13,000 for about 500 square feet of land.
  • The City Council unanimously approved a bid award to Cascade Springs Forestry for invasive plant removal at Ashford Forest Preserve, Blackburn Park, Briarwood Park, LaVista Park and Murphey Candler Park Perimeter (Lower Dam) in the amount of $31,250.
  • The City Council unanimously approved a bid award to EcoAddendum / Reforest Atlanta for invasive plant removal at Fernwood Park, North Druid Hills Greenspace, Osborne Park and Murphey Candler Park Perimeter (Upper Dam) in the amount of $284,390.
  • The City Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the 2022 General Fund Budget for the purchase of 1712 Duke Road, and 1731 and 1739 Tobey Road.
  • The City Council unanimously approved a resolution to approve the acquisition of real property for a public purpose at 1712 Duke Road and 1731, and 7739 Tobey Road.
  • The City Council unanimously approved a ground lease and related documents between DeKalb County and City of Brookhaven for the Community Service Board (CSB) Building at Brookhaven Park.
  • The City Council unanimously approved an ordinance adopting the second amendment of the Special Service District (SSD), designating the boundaries, and providing for definitions, and for other purposes.  The revised map now includes only commercial and exempt property in the City. This was adopted to avoid creating a new exemption for homesteaded property owners.
