City Council wrap-up for the June 13 meeting

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brookhaven, GA, June 13, 2023 The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its June 13 meeting:

  • The Mayor and Council recognized the Brookhaven Finance Department with the presentation of the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association.
     
  • Proclamation recognizing Juneteenth in the City of Brookhaven.
     
  • The Mayor and Council appointed Sandra Bryant as City Clerk and affirmed the positions of Deputy City Clerks Susan Hiott and Ann Marie Quill.
     
  • The Mayor and Council held a public hearing regarding the FY 2023 millage rates.  No action was taken during this meeting. The next public hearings will take place on June 28 at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. with approval at the June 28 City Council meeting.
     
  • The Mayor and Council held a public hearing and deferred to the June 28 meeting TA23-05: an ordinance to amend Chapter 27 Zoning Ordinance - Modifications to Land Use Requirements for the Buford Highway Overlay District.
     
  • The Mayor and Council approved a consent agenda which included the minutes of the May 23, 2023, Work Session and Regular Meeting.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the 2023 General Fund and the Capital Improvement Fund Budget appropriating Assigned Fund Balance in the General Fund and increasing expenditures in the Capital Improvement Fund.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved a Kompan proposal for playground equipment ($582,047.76) and installation ($124,457.93) for Brookhaven Park - USA State Contract.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved a TriScapes Agreement per ITB 23-103 for Brookhaven Park Improvements in the amount of $7,276,593.97.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved a task order for $273,276 to Gresham Smith for acquisition of right-of-way for Peachtree Creek Greenway Phase II.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved a task order for $156,745 to THC, Inc. for right-of-way acquisition services for Ashford Dunwoody Multiuse Path, Phase I.
