City Council wrap-up for the Jan. 9 meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Jan. 10, 2024 The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Jan. 9 meeting:

  • The City Council directed City staff to close the gate at Horseshoe Road in Murphey Candler Park.
  • Former Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tempore Joe Gebbia presented decorum rules previously adopted by Council.
  • Mayor John Park administered the Oath of Office for Brookhaven Municipal Court Chief Judge Bryan C. Ramos and Judge Laura Stevenson.
  • The Mayor and Council approved a consent agenda which included:
    • The minutes of the Dec. 19, 2023, Work Session and Regular Meeting.
    • Approved the termination of the contract with Up4Tennis.
  • The Council unanimously approved a resolution for the appointment and reappointment of members to the Planning Commission, appointing Sean Pharr and Andrew Plant, re-appointing Conor Sen, Kevin Quark, and Sharletta McKinney.
  • The Council unanimously approved a resolution for the reappointment of members to the of the Board of Appeals - Phyllis Mitchell and Henry Saxon.
  • The Council unanimously approved a resolution for the appointment of Councilmember/Mayor Pro Tempore John Funny as Ex-Officio to the Brookhaven Development Authority.
  • The Council unanimously approved the task order under the On-Demand Contract for right-of-way acquisition services to Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson for $132,200 for right-of-way and easement acquisition services for the Caldwell Rd. / Redding Rd. Intersection Improvement Project.
  • The Council unanimously approved a change order for Michael Baker International for $71,858 for an increase in design fees for the relocation of existing waterlines located in the Caldwell Rd / Redding Rd. Intersection Realignment Project.
  • The Council unanimously approved a contract with Shamrock Construction & Remediation, LLC. for the construction of the Upper N Fork Nancy Creek Stream Restoration Project: I-285 to Murphey Candler Lake, an EPA 319(H) Cost Share Water Quality Improvement Project in the amount of $1,261,487
