City Council business meeting on Jan. 10

Brookhaven, GA, Jan. 9, 2023 - The Brookhaven City Council will conduct its next regularly scheduled business meeting Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m., at Brookhaven City Hall, 4362 Peachtree Road NE, in Brookhaven. While the meeting will be held in person, the public can participate in public hearings and public comment remotely via Zoom video conference.

Residents can submit public input by any of the following options:

The business meeting contains the following for City Council consideration:

  • An ordinance to place a moratorium on all land use petitions and land development permits related to land within the Buford Highway Corridor Character Area.
     
  • An ordinance to amend the 2023 SPLOST Fund Budget for the Fiscal Year, appropriating $38,218 from the SPLOST Fund Unassigned Fund Balance to cover additional costs for the Autoco Development, LLC. agreement in the Sidewalk Briarwood Road Project.
     
  • An ordinance to approve the amended Authorized Position List of the City of Brookhaven.
     
  • An ordinance to amend the 2023 General Fund Budget Fund Budget to transfer the maintenance positions presented in "Exhibit A" from the Parks & Recreation Department to the Facility Services Department.
     
  • A task order for Response Environmental & Site Services (RESS) for $127,740 for stormwater repairs on Donaldson Rd.
     
  • A task order to Michael Baker International for $166,735 for engineering design services for intersection improvements at Caldwell Rd. and Redding Rd.
     
  • A resolution authorizing the City Attorney and Administration to move forward with the recommendations of the Charter Review Committee concerning a Charter Preamble.
     
  • A resolution authorizing the City Attorney and Administration to move forward with the recommendations of the Charter Review Committee concerning a diverse representation on boards, commissions and authorities.
     
  • A resolution authorizing the City Attorney and Administration to move forward with the recommendations of the Charter Review Committee concerning mayoral authority to remove members of boards, commissions, and authorities.
     
  • A resolution authorizing the City Attorney and Administration to move forward with the recommendations of the Charter Review Committee concerning mayoral authority to remove the City Attorney.
     
  • A resolution authorizing the City Attorney and Administration to move forward with the recommendations of the Charter Review Committee concerning mayoral authority to remove the City Clerk.
     
  • A resolution authorizing the City Attorney and Administration to move forward with the recommendations of the Charter Review Committee concerning term limits for the position of mayor.
     
  • A resolution authorizing the City Attorney and Administration to move forward with the recommendations of the Charter Review Committee concerning modification of the Homestead Exemption Valuation Freeze.
     
  • A resolution authorizing the City Attorney and Administration to move forward with the recommendations of the Charter Review Committee concerning the annual salary for the positions of mayor and councilmembers.
     
  • A resolution to fix and publish the qualifying fees for the General Municipal Election for the City of Brookhaven for the offices of Mayor and Council Members of Districts 1 and 3.
     
  • A consent agenda which includes:
    • The minutes of the Dec. 13. 2022 Work Session and Regular Meetings.
    • Approval of a request for review and approval of a change order for Autaco Development of $38,218.06 for the proposed MUP at the intersection of Buford Highway and Briarwood Road.
    • Approval of the resolution authorizing contract amendments to the Public Safety Building project management oversight due to project delays.
    • Approval of authorization for the City Manager to execute proposal//purchase with Greenspeed Energy Solutions, LLC for EV charging infrastructure and system at the new Public Safety Building in the amount of $137,107.
