Statement from Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dick Williams, a life-long newsman and husband to Brookhaven’s former mayor, Rebecca Chase Williams.  Dick was a tireless watchdog holding governments accountable, long before there was a City of Brookhaven.  His dedication to the ideals of honesty, integrity and service were the foundation upon his life’s work. In fact, Dick and Rebecca’s expectation that governments could and should do a better job was a catalyst in the creation of Brookhaven itself.  Dick’s legacy are those ideals in which this City was founded upon.

Statement from Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst

“I am shocked and saddened over the untimely passing of Jeff Parker.  Jeff and I worked together on the Top End 285 Transit initiative, he was a generous collaborator on the future of the MARTA station in Brookhaven, and he spearheaded MARTA’s involvement with the Cherry Blossom Summer Block Party, the first music festival on MARTA property.  I considered him a personal friend and a friend to the City. My prayers will be with his family and loved ones during this very difficult time.”
