City Making Progress on Parks Bond Capital Improvement Program – Update Now Available

The City of Brookhaven is home to more than 300 acres of the most beautiful parkland in Metro Atlanta. With aquatics, hiking, sports facilities and playgrounds, Brookhaven’s parks truly offer something for everyone.

In November 2018, voters passed the Parks Bond referendum to authorize up to $40 million in capital improvements to Brookhaven parks and facilities.

Clean-Up Day slated for Sept. 14

Brookhaven, GA, Aug. 12, 2019 - Phase 1 of the Peachtree Creek Greenway (PCG) is nearing completion and an upcoming volunteer event will offer residents an opportunity to leave an impact on this newest Brookhaven landmark. As a component of the Cowart Family YMCA’s “Days of Service” program, a volunteer clean-up day, on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to noon, will be held on the stretch of trailway between Briarwood and North Druid Hills.

Brookhaven pooches invited to make a last splash at Doggy Dip Day

Brookhaven, GA, Aug. 12, 2019 – Brookhaven Parks and Recreation Department, along with Puppy Haven - Brookhaven, invites pooches to come out and enjoy one last splash of summer at Doggy Dip Day.

The event takes place at Murphey Candler pool, 1551 W. Nancy Creek Drive, on Sunday, Sept. 8. Small dogs up to 35 pounds will be let in the pool from 1 to 2:30 p.m., while larger dogs weighing more than 35 pounds can jump in from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per dog.

City Council approves Atlanta Hawks Foundation improvements to Lynwood Park

Brookhaven, GA, July 23, 2019 - The Brookhaven City Council got its first look at planned improvements to the Lynwood Park facility thanks to a special partnership with the Atlanta Hawks Foundation, Inc. and State Farm, at its July 23 regular business meeting.

The Council unanimously approved the donation from the Atlanta Hawks Foundation, Inc., for site improvements to existing basketball courts and for the renovation of the facility at Lynwood Park, which include upgraded furnishings and technology.

Brookhaven stormwater improvements on Stratfield Drive completed

Brookhaven, GA, July 3, 2019 – After several months of working on the project, the City of Brookhaven has completed a substantial overhaul of the stormwater system in the Cambridge Park subdivision.

The two-phase project addressed standing water and flooding issues from Johnson Ferry Road into the yards of residents along Stratfield Drive.  The existing system was more than 50 years old, undersized and in poor condition in several locations.

New traffic signal in use at Briarwood and North Druid Hills

Improvements to the intersection of North Druid Hills Road and Briarwood Road are ongoing, but motorists turning from Briarwood onto North Druid Hills will notice a new traffic signal in use.

RIGHT turning vehicles will see a STEADY RED ARROW or FLASHING RED ARROW at the top of the signal. As a reminder: a STEADY RED arrow means stop and remain stopped until presented with a green arrow or a flashing red arrow. A FLASHING RED arrow means stop and remain stopped for pedestrians and cross-traffic, then proceed with caution.
