Georgia Cities Week

The City of Brookhaven announces its participation in Georgia’s Cities Week a statewide campaign by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) to bring awareness about local government. Georgia’s Cities Week is April 22-28, with the theme “Georgia's Cities: In the Spotlight!” Here is a list of the activities we have planned for you during this amazing week. 

Sunday, April 22 , 5 p.m.– Flute Concerto by Elena Duran at the Conant Performing Arts Center at Oglethorpe University - 4484 Peachtree Rd NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319

The City of Brookhaven sponsorship kicks off Georgia’s Cities Week. Brookhaven is among the sponsors responsible for bringing renowned international flautist, Elena Durán to Brookhaven. The free event is organized by the Mexican Consulate.

Monday, April 23, 11:30 a.m. – Brookhaven Connect and GIS Open Data Lunch & learn - 4362 Peachtree Rd NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319

Hosted by the City of Brookhaven, the Brookhaven Connect and GIS Open Data Lunch & Learn aims to instruct residents on how to properly use city resources that benefit them and better their community.

Tuesday, April 24, 7 p.m. – City Council Meeting: read Georgia Cities Week proclamation and recognize winner of “If I Was a Mayor” essay - 4362 Peachtree Rd NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319

During the regular City Council Meeting Hours, Mayor John Ernst will read the Georgia Cities Week proclamation. After that, he will recognize the winner of “If I Was a Mayor” essay. This essay was open to students from Cross Keys High School.

Wednesday, April 25, 5 p.m.—Trivia night at Lucky's Burgers & Brew with Elected officials, City employees and Brookhaven residents - 305 Brookhaven Ave #1250, Brookhaven, GA 30319

In partnership with the Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce and Lucky Burger + Brew, the City of Brookhaven invites their elected officials, residents, visitors and employees to a trivia night where questions about the City that serves you could lead you to win Brookhaven prizes. Entry is free and open to the public.

Thursday, April 26,.-Georgian Hills Park Grand Opening originally scheduled has been postponed due to weather concerns

Brookhaven Parks and Recreation will host the ‘Grand Opening’ of Georgian Hills Park. The infrastructure enhancements included redesigned parking lot and improvements to the sidewalk that runs along Clairmont Road, a playground installation are among other things will be showcased that afternoon.

Friday, April 27, 11:30 a.m.—Pizza with Police at City Hall -  4362 Peachtree Rd NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319

Brookhaven Police Department plans to ‘switch it up’ during this week. They will change “coffee with a cop” for “pizza with police” and host an evening event where Brookhaven residents are invited to share a slice (or two) of pizza with their favorite PD.

Saturday, April 28, 8a.m. to 12 p.m.—Women’s Self-Defense Class brought to you by Brookhaven Police Department - 2665 Buford Hwy NE, Brookhaven, GA 30324 

Brookhaven Police Department will close the week of Georgia’s Cities in the Spotlight by hosting a Women’s self-defense class opened to female Brookhaven residents. Please e-mail major Donald Chase at donald.chase@brookhavenga.gov to sign up. Space is limited.
