Brookhaven among sponsors for a free concert by renowned international flautist at Oglethorpe

The City of Brookhaven sponsorship kicks off Georgia’s Cities Week. Brookhaven is among the sponsors responsible for bringing renowned international flautist, Elena Durán to Brookhaven. The free event organized by the Mexican Consulate will take place on April 22, 2018 at 5 p.m. at the Conant Performing Arts Center in Oglethorpe University, 4484 Peachtree Rd NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319.

“This is a great opportunity for Brookhaven residents to experience something different,” said Mayor John Ernst, who will briefly speak prior to the performance. “Brookhaven is such a diverse City and with great opportunities to emerse ourselves in other cultures.”

The Mexican-American artist will give a concert paying homage to Mexican actor and singer Pedro Infante on the 100th anniversary of his birth.

In “100 Años de Pedro Infante,” Duran will perform  popular songs of Mexican cinema such as “Cien Años” by Rubén Fuentes, “Cucurrucucu Paloma” by Tomás Méndez, “Amorcito Corazón” by Manuel Esperón, “Zacatecas” by Genaro Codina and “Ella” by José Alfredo Jiménez.

Durán has participated in concerts and recordings with prestigious orchestras in the United Kingdom, the United States and Europe, as well as in most orchestras in Mexico
