Five for Fighting and Edwin McCain will perform at the 2018 Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival.

Five for Fighting headlines Sunday show with special guest Edwin McCain

Brookhaven, GA, March 2, 2018 – The star-studded music lineup for the 2018 Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival has been expanded again.  The festival takes place March 24-25, 2018 at Blackburn Park, 3493 Ashford Dunwoody Road in Brookhaven.  Admission is free.

Headlining Sunday, March 25 is chart-topping singer/songwriter Five for Fighting with special guest Edwin McCain, called the “great American romantic” by the New York Times.

Five for Fighting and Edwin McCain complete the festival lineup which also includes Saturday, March 24 concert headliner and country music star Craig Morgan as well as country music sensation Keith Anderson.  Transviolet kicks off the show on Saturday, and Hannah Wicklund & The Steppin Stones is the first act in Sunday’s program.

Chart-topping singer/songwriter John Ondrasik goes by Five for Fighting (a five-minute penalty for hockey on-the-ice fist-a-cuffs), and burst on the scene some 15 years ago with his Grammy Award-nominated hit "Superman (It's Not Easy)."  The song and album by the same name went Platinum, was #1 on Adult Top 40, #2 on Hot AC, and became the unofficial anthem following the 9.11 attacks on American soil. Naturally, he performed it at The Concert For New York City.  He has been a mainstay on mainstream radio ever since.

In his career, Ondrasik has sold over 2.5 million albums including 2004's "Battle for Everything," which spawned the 2X platinum "100 Years," which continues to melt hearts, provide all ages with an instant case of nostalgia. Other hits have included "The Riddle," "World," "Chances" and "What If."

Edwin McCain has built an enviable career over the past 20 years by balancing his massive pop success with the year-round touring schedule of a tireless troubadour.  His hit songs, authentic spirit and surprisingly affable sense of humor keep fans coming back time and time again for nights that feel more like parties with old friends than rock concerts. McCain recorded two of the biggest love songs in the history of pop music (and wedding must-haves) “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask For More.”  These aren’t just for the romantic at heart; “American Idol” and “The Voice” contestants turn to McCain’s ballads every single year to help them win over judges and fans alike.

The Brookhaven Cherry Blossom festival is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 24 and 25.

“The entertainment and festivities keep getting bigger and better every year at the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival,” said Brookhaven District 1 Councilmember Linley Jones.  “The partnership of Live Nation and Splash Festivals has already raised the level of excitement surrounding our music and art extravaganza.  The best part is that admission is free and there is something for everyone in the whole family.”

In October, the Brookhaven City Council approved a contract with Splash Festivals to operate the Arts & Crafts Market and handle logistics for the event.  Splash Festivals also manages the festivals in Dunwoody, Norcross, Johns Creek, Alpharetta and other locations. So far, Splash Festivals has registered 100 vendors for the Brookhaven event, more than triple the size of previous markets.

This year, the festival will premiere a food court sitting area providing guests with a 360-degree view of the stage, Kidz Zone and dog show area.  The car show will be returning on Saturday, March 24, and the 5K road race, now designated as a Peachtree Road Race qualifier and fundraiser for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, will take place on Sunday, March 25.
