Langford Park opens; dedication set for June 7

Brookhaven, GA, June 2, 2023 – Langford Park, located at 1174 Pine Grove Ave., officially opened to the public on May 31. A special dedication ceremony is set at the park on Wednesday, June 7, at 5 p.m.

The ceremony will honor Robert C. “Bob” Langford, for whom the park is named. The land once belonged to the family of Langford, who had grown up in the family home formerly on the site.  Langford Park is a tribute to the fallen local war hero, lost in Vietnam half a century ago, as well as other members of the armed services who lost their lives in combat.

“It is fitting that we honor the service of the veteran this park is named for so soon after Memorial Day,” said Madeleine Simmons, Councilwoman for District 3, where the park is located. “It will be a joy to see the neighborhood enjoying this lovely space.”

The new park includes a playground, Bocce Ball court, sheltered pavilion, a water fountain for people and their pets, and walking trails that accentuate the natural green space.

The $1.1 million project was approved on June 28, 2022, in accordance with the Langford Park Master Plan.
