Brookhaven approves 23 more road paving projects in 2018

List includes roads on the 2019 paving plan
Brookhaven, GA, April 27, 2018 – The City of Brookhaven continues its aggressive 2018 paving schedule with the approval of 23 more paving projects during the April 24 City Council meeting.
Brookhaven established a five-year (2017 to 2021) paving program in late 2016 based on the pavement analysis and recommendation by Infrastructure Management Services (IMS). The Brookhaven Public Works Department completed 17 road paving projects totaling 2.21 miles on or before March 29, concluding Phase 1 of the 2018 paving season several months ahead of schedule.
“We have rolled up our sleeves and made substantial progress toward our five-year paving plan,” said City Manager Christian Sigman. “Phase II of the 2018 paving season will pull in neighborhood streets that are on the 2019 plan, giving us a jump start on next year, too.”
Brookhaven awarded the 2018 Phase II Paving Contract to Steward Brothers, Inc. in the amount of $ 2,214,911.51. Funding will come from 2018 SPLOST proceeds and the balances from previous paving contracts. Work is expected to begin in summer and, weather permitting, completed before the 2018/2019 school season starts.
“Brookhaven should have the best streets in the metro Atlanta area, if not the entire state. The progress we are making brings us closer to this goal,” said Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst.
