Brookhaven Police Announce Temporary Department Changes Due to COVID-19

Effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020 and continuing through March 30, 2020, Brookhaven Police Headquarters will be closed to the public. The Brookhaven Municipal Court -which is housed in the same building as Police Headquarters- will also close to the public.

During this closure, routine administrative services performed in the lobby of Police Headquarters will be temporarily discontinued, including records requests, permit applications, and background checks. In addition, non-emergency calls for service where a suspect is not on scene will be handled by telephone.

When contacting the police department, please leave a telephone number at which you can be re-called; an officer will respond by telephone to the call for service, including taking a report if necessary. For service calls which require a police officer’s response, residents should expect the officer to maintain CDC-recommended distances.

Please know that during this facilities closure, the Brookhaven Police Department will continue to provide professional, high quality, and effective police services to all those in our community. 9-1-1 services are fully operational, officers are prepared to respond to calls, laws will be enforced, and our City will remain protected.

By making these small changes, we are doing our part to support the CDC-recommended “social distancing” that can help slow the spread of COVID-19. We are also safeguarding essential staff and public safety personnel to ensure continuity of services and support of emergency operations for our City.
