Easter Bunny making a “socially distant” appearance
Brookhaven, GA, March 29, 2021 – With the pandemic Easter continues to be a little different this year, but that isn’t stopping the Brookhaven Parks and Recreation Department from treating the kids. The Easter Bunny will include Brookhaven in the Bunny Trail this Saturday, April 3, beginning at 9 a.m. Keeping a safe distance as he rides in the back of a new Brookhaven Parks & Recreation Maintenance truck, Peter Rabbit will wave from afar and kids of all ages are encouraged to cheer him on from front yards and porches.
The Easter Bunny will be accompanied by a line of Brookhaven Police cars with lights flashing and sirens blaring. The blocked-off parade route will begin at Lynwood Recreation Center and wind its way along City streets until finally reaching the BPD offices on Buford Highway (see complete route below). Spectators are encouraged to keep a safe distance from the parade and their neighbors as the caravan makes its way along the Bunny Trail.
“Even though we once again had to cancel all of our Easter egg hunts, we still wanted to find a way to spread Easter joy in a socially distant, safe manner,” said Brian Borden, Parks & Recreation Director.
The Parks & Rec Department is also busy this week dropping off Easter Eggs to 200 Brookhaven households who signed up and filled all slots in a matter of hours earlier this month, in addition to apartment complexes in the Buford Highway area.
