Brookhaven, GA, April 30, 2019 – Splish, splash and keep cool this summer at one of the City of Brookhaven’s municipal pools. The pools are located at: Murphey Candler Park, 1551 W, Nancy Creek Drive; Briarwood Park, 2235 Briarwood Way NE; and Lynwood Park, 3360 Osborne Road NE. All three will open for the summer at noon on Saturday, May 25, and will be open for specified hours daily through August 4.

“We’re looking forward to another great season,” said Parks & Recreation Director Brian Borden. “I encourage everyone to come out and see what we have in store for you this summer.”

Returning this year are the popular “Dive-In Movie Nights” where swimmers can enjoy the pool while watching a movie. The dates and pool locations for this year’s movie nights are June 15 at Murphey Candler pool and July 13 at the Briarwood pool. The movies begin at 9 p.m., concessions will be available for purchase and admission is free. The movies planned for these two nights are still being determined.

Season passes will be available for purchase beginning May 1 at Lynwood and Briarwood Recreation Centers, only during administration hours. The fees remain the same as last year with $80 per child (under 18), $120 for adults (18+), $60 for seniors (55+) or $250 per family of 4 (same household). There is a $60 charge for additional family members in the same household. Payment for season passes can be made via cash, check or credit card and must be paid at either Lynwood or Briarwood Recreation Centers during the hours the pool is open.

Daily admission to the pools is $3 per child (2-17); $5 per adult (18-54) and $1 for seniors (55+). There is a $2 per person charge with groups of 20 or more. Payment for general daily admission can be made by cash or credit card at the pool.

Planning a pool party? Pools may be rented beginning 30 minutes after the close of open swim hours (no rentals before opening hours). Exceptions will be nights with swim team practice or swim meets. The cost is $75/hour with a two-hour minimum and lifeguards will be provided at an additional $25/hour cost. To book or get more details, contact taylor.davis@brookhavenga.gov.

As the summer draws to a close, our canine friends can join in on the fun too. The pool season closes with one last splash of summer fun designated especially for fur babies with a “Doggy Dip Day” on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at Murphey Candler pool.  Admission is $10 per dog.
