City Council wrap-up for the Feb. 23 virtual meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Feb. 23, 2021 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Feb. 23 business meeting, held via video conference, with public input offered through email and by online comments on Zoom.  The action items are as follows:

  • The Mayor and Council held a public hearing for a rezoning from RS-100 to RS-50 at 1230 Kendrick Road to allow for a two-lot subdivision.  The item was deferred to a subsequent meeting.
  • The Mayor and Council held a public hearing and subsequently approved a rezoning from O-I and RSA-5 to RSA-18 at 1234 and 1244 Park Vista Drive.
     
  • The Mayor and Council unanimously approved a consent agenda which included:
    • The minutes of the Feb. 9 virtual Work Session and Regular Meetings.
    • Consideration and approval of CARES Act funding plan adjustment.
       
  • The Mayor nominated and Council subsequently approved the appointment of Kyle R. Williams to the Social Justice, Race and Equity Commission.
     
  • The Council issued a proclamation in recognition of Arbor Day 2021.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved a contract amendment for Community Planning Insights for the change order for delivery of the Brookhaven analysis of impediments to affordable housing choice.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend Section 14-83, Stormwater Management Standards.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved the purchase of a park maintenance landscape truck for the Parks & Recreation Department from Bellamy Strickland in the amount of $57,478.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved the execution of an agreement with Integrated Construction and Nobility for the construction for the Murphey Candler Park South Trail Project in the Amount of $443,143.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved the Redistricting Consultant Services Proposal from FLO Analytics in the amount of $33,670.
     
  • The Council approved an ordinance that extends pouring hours for the 2021 NBA All Star Game weekend.
  • The Council unanimously approved a proclamation that recognizes and reaffirms that restaurants and the workers in the restaurant industry are essential to the economy, public health, and society as a whole in the City of Brookhaven.
