Planning and Zoning
The planning and zoning team works with the community development department to review site plan submissions for compliance with all Brookhaven zoning and development requirements and the Comprehensive Plan . Planning and zoning also provides support to the City’s Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.

All applicants are required to schedule a preapplication meeting with staff prior to submittal of a land use or variance application on or before the Friday prior to the Wednesday filing deadline.

Land Use (rezoning and special land use permit); and
Variance The Zoning Board of Appeals will hear no more than ten (10) new business items at any given regular meeting.
All documentation to be included in the presentation package to the City Council and Boards by the applicant and the public related to land use and variance petitions must be received by the Department of Community Development two (2) weeks prior to the scheduled hearing date.
All applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. on the filing deadline. Please note that only complete applications will be accepted by the Community Development Department.
