Parks & Rec, Georgia Bikes offer free ‘smart bicycling’ class in Brookhaven

Brookhaven, GA, Apr. 20, 2017 – Interested in fine-tuning your bicycling skills and taking a ride through local neighborhoods? Brookhaven Parks and Recreation and Georgia Bikes are partnering to present a free “Smart Bicycling” workshop. The two-hour hands-on class takes place Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to noon, starting in Blackburn Park, 3493 Ashford Dunwoody Road, in the parking lot at Roberts Way and Donaldson Drive.

The class is two-fold, explained Nedra Deadwyler, Georgia Bikes Safety Education Program Manager. “We’ll start with a safety portion that will enhance riders’ skills so that they can ride with more confidence and safety in mind,” she said. “Participants will then use those skills on a bike ride through the surrounding neighborhoods.”

Brookhaven Parks & Recreation Director Brian Borden said the class is also a chance to encourage folks to be more active and enjoy the outdoors. “This class will allow participants to learn important safety skills and get out and enjoy beautiful Blackburn Park and the surrounding area,” he said.

Attendees must bring their own bike, helmet and water.
