Brookhaven Honor Guard makes its debut
Brookhaven, GA, Sept 18, 2017 – Recently, the Brookhaven Honor Guard escorted and raised a new flag on the newly relocated flag pole at Brookhaven Police Headquarters.
The flag pole was relocated to the Brookhaven Police Department from its former home at the Dekalb County Vital Records Building which has been demolished to create the new Skyland Park.
“We were able to save this 30 ft flag pole from destruction and give it a new home. This installation represents a savings of up to $3,000,” says Police Chief Gary Yandura.
To commemorate the pole’s installation and the raising of its first flag at its new home, the newly formed Brookhaven Honor Guard conducted a ceremony to honor not only our nation’s flag, but America and the Brookhaven community as a whole. The ceremony involved the entirety of the Brookhaven Honor Guard with Corporal D. Snively performing the National Anthem.
The Brookhaven Honor Guard was formed September 13. The Guard is comprised of Officer K. Martinez, Corporal C. Rausch, Officer C. Nino, Officer M. Jones, Sergeant M. Murray, Corporal D. Snively, Officer R. Perez, and Officer C. Van Alan.
