Georgia Department of Transportation to install new flashing yellow turn signals along Peachtree Road

Post Date:06/23/2017 3:47 PM

Brookhaven, GA, June 23, 2017 –  Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is in the process of installing 7 flashing yellow arrow traffic signals along Peachtree Road in the City of Brookhaven.

According to studies commissioned by the Federal Highway Administration and the National Cooperative Highway Research Program, flashing yellow turn signals result in a more efficient traffic flow and enhanced intersection safety for both pedestrians and drivers.

These lights will be installed throughout the Peachtree Road corridor along the 1.7 miles between Lanier Drive and the Atlanta city limits at various locations.

Flashing yellow turn signals alert drivers that they have the ability to turn left once they have determined that their intended path of travel is clear of oncoming motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.
